Started in Berkeley CA, and now lives in LA
Niko Vavloukis is a multi-instrumentalist and producer who hails from Berkeley, California. He grew up playing jazz in a small combo with high school friends and played in the Berkeley High School Jazz band at different venues around the California Bay Area. Originally a trumpet and keys player, Niko discovered the guitar in his senior year of high school and became obsessed with learning Django Reinhardt solos and other songs in the Gypsy Jazz idiom. After graduating, he wasn’t sure what to do with his life, and went to Lake Forest College in Chicago with a Reid Music Scholarship to study Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) with a minor in Music Performance. After realizing that BMB was taking a back seat to his true passion for music, he auditioned and was accepted to the Berklee College of Music. There, Niko started studying Professional Music with concentrations in Writing, Production, and Performance. He’s had the opportunity to branch out into many different genres, including Hip Hop, Jazz Fusion, and IDM. Since coming to Berklee, Niko has been honing his skills and has worked as a producer and performer, helping artists like MKAres (pictured below), Luiza Girardello, and Caleb Tesfaye complete their sound. He has also worked on the Flynch Entertainment Podcast and various short films such as “8 a.m. to 8 p.m.” as a producer and session musician. At the moment, Niko continues to explore opportunities in Los Angeles, working with various artists as a freelance producer and performer
